Alberta Out Of Province Inspection

Why do I need an Alberta out of province inspection?

If you are moving to Alberta, or live here and have purchased a vehicle from another province, you will need to get an Alberta Out of Province Inspection. Not only will an out of province inspection ensure the vehicle is mechanically fit and safe to drive, it is also a requirement of Alberta Transportation and you’ll need it to legally register the vehicle.

Revolution Motors is a licensed vehicle inspection facility and can provide an out of province inspection in Edmonton for your vehicle. Our journeyman mechanics are licensed by Alberta Transportation’s Vehicle Inspection Program. We will give your vehicle a thorough inspection to ensure it passes the government’s standards for safety and we will do it quickly, so you can get your vehicle registered and back on the road as soon as possible.

What is included in an Alberta out of province vehicle inspection?

Your out of province inspection will cover nearly every component of your vehicle. It will take about two hours and we will check your electrical systems, glass, steering, lights, brakes, engine controls, fuel and exhaust systems, suspension, wipers and defrosters, powertrain, driveline, tires, body condition, and more.

We will also look for any indications that the vehicle has been damaged or had substantial repairs in the past during your out of province inspection in Edmonton. If the vehicle has major structural damage or has been declared salvage in another province, it must undergo an inspection after the repairs are completed before you can have it registered again.

Is there anything I can do to prepare my vehicle for my out of province inspection?

The most common reasons why out of province inspections fail are not major mechanical issues. To speed up the process and reduce the chances of your car failing the inspection, here are some things you can check yourself before bringing your car in:

  • Make sure your wiper blades are no torn or chipped and are working properly.
  • Replace any burnt out headlamps, indicator lights, brake lights, and hazard lights.
  • Replace your cracked windshield.
  • Replace worn tires.
  • Inspect your brakes. If your brake pads or shoes are worn down too far, you will have to have them replaced. Revolution Motors offers brake repair.
  • Is the check engine light on? If the check engine light is on, Revolution Motors can run a computer diagnostic to determine the problem.
